About Us
The Open Intelligence Foundation was founded in 2026 by members of the open-source AI community with a shared purpose: to protect, strengthen, and expand open artificial intelligence for everyone. We believe that intelligence—along with the knowledge, tools, and research that make it possible—should be accessible, transparent, and shaped by the broadest possible community.
Our work is grounded in the principles of open science, open source, open models, open data, and open research. These principles enable people to examine how technology works, contribute to its development, reproduce scientific results, and build upon the discoveries of others. Openness accelerates innovation, strengthens accountability, and ensures that the future of AI is not determined solely behind closed doors.
The Foundation is community-focused, not a membership organization or a trade association serving corporate interests. We do not exist to advance the priorities of paid members. Supported by donations, we invest in community-led initiatives, public-interest infrastructure, education, research, project development, and collaboration across the open AI ecosystem.
We serve academics, researchers, scientists, founders, engineers, educators, developers, builders, investors, end users, and society at large. By bringing these communities together, the Open Intelligence Foundation is working toward a future in which AI remains open to participation, open to scrutiny, and open to possibility.
